"An estimated 5 to 10% of women of childbearing age have PCOS"

Introducing PCOS UK

PCOS UK is a new multidisciplinary society for healthcare professionals caring for women with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome.

We are the healthcare professional section of Verity, the polycystic ovaries self help group, and will be working in partnership with other organisations to improve the management of this very common and distressing condition. PCOS UK is delighted to have the support of Diabetes UK and the National Obesity Forum.

PCOS UK has been formed to focus on the need to provide educational support to improve the awareness and knowledge of PCOS and related conditions among healthcare professionals in the UK. Improved management and the reduction of insulin resistance should make it possible to reduce the risk of diabetes in later years.

Three successful PCOS UK conferences were held in 2006 - in London, Glasgow and Manchester - to encourage a multidisciplinary approach to the diagnosis and management of PCOS. Over 300 attended one of these conferences and 98% rated them good or excellent.

In 2007 PCOS UK has held two conferences - the last was held at the University of York on September 20th. More details of this and forthcoming PCOS UK events can be found on our events page.

The secretariat service for PCOS UK is serviced by
